Courses inferiorly towards the thigh and is deep to the inguinal ligament in the femoral triangle near the femoral vein and nerve
Branch of the femoral artery in the proximal thigh, supplies the adductor and hamstring muscles
Courses inferiorly and posteriorly along the pelvic wall, gives off branches to pelvic organs and 2 branches that supply the gluteal region
Courses distally through the popliteal fossa where it lies deep to the popliteal vein and tibial nerve, divides into anterior and posterior arteries
