Johan-Nicholas Kilts (1732-ca. 1810) served in the Tryon County militia. In 1788 he purchased land in Fairfield (now called Kilts Hill) where he had a butter and cheese processing plant. The current property owner is Fairfield supervisor Henry Crofoot, the 4th great __ of Kilts.

John B. Koetteritz (1853-1928) came to Dolgeville at the age of 28 to work for Alfred Dolge to survey his timber lands. He later moved to Little Falls and was chief engineer of the State Forestry Commission. In this job, he was the first to create a land ownership map for the __ State Park.
